He is secretary of the BSG IBD committee, SSG Research committee and represents Scotland in the UKCRN Speciality Group. He was co-chairman of the Working Party which developed the Montreal Classification system for phenotype assessment.

Dr David Wilson is a Paediatric Gastroenterologist and Reader at Edinburgh University. He is PI in the MRC-funded PICTS cohort study of PIBD, a member of the international PIBD genetics consortium, and has led UK-wide studies of biological use in PIBD.

Dr Jeff Barrett is a group leader in statistical genetics at the WTSI,. He has led GWAS which have identified twenty susceptibility loci each for CD and Type I Diabetes. He previously developed the widely used Haploview software (>3000 citations).
